Single seater ace Viktor Andersson is going to make his TCR Europe debut this season, racing a Lynk & Co 03 TCR for experienced Swedish squad MA:GP.
"This is going to be a thoroughly interesting switch for me, going from single seaters to touring cars. But I'm all up for it and I'm really impressed by the Lynk & Co 03 TCR after the tests we've done so far, I can't wait to go racing in it," said Viktor Andersson.
"While pre-season testing has been encouraging, I've got modest expectations as I will meet a very tough field - especially with TCR World Tour joining us for the first part of the season. I will take it step by step and primarily aim for the top of the Rookie Trophy."
The 19-year-old, who is son to Swedish touring car veteran and MA:GP team owner Mattias Andersson, is an experienced single seater driver - racing in the USF2000 Championship last year and claimed the 2019 Formula Nordic title.
Viktor Andersson will make his touring car debut in 2023 following a number of tests in Sweden and across Europe during the winter with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR.
"This is a big step for both Viktor and us as team after so many years of racing back home in Sweden," said Mattias Andersson.
"It is an inspiring challenge to race abroad and to help my son making his international touring car debut. We lack the experience of the teams that we will race against, but we will work methodically and aim for the top three of the Rookie Trophy."
The 2023 TCR Europe season will also mark the international debut of MA:GP following more than a decade in STCC and TCR Scandinavia, with father Mattias Andersson finishing fourth overall last year in the same Lynk & Co that his son will race this year.
"We have worked successfully together with MA:GP in Scandinavia since 2021 and we are delighted to support them in their international debut, wishing them the best of luck in the highly competitive TCR Europe series. This will also mark a further expanded international presence of the Lynk & Co 03 TCR model in 2023 as it will be represented in five global, regional and national championships," said Ron Hartvelt, Customer Sport Director of Geely Group Motorsport.
The 2023 season of TCR Europe starts on April 28-30 at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal, racing together with the inaugural TCR World Tour season where fellow Swedish squad Lynk & Co Cyan Racing will field four cars.
The Lynk & Co 03 TCR will be represented by customer teams to Geely Group Motorsport in the TCR World Tour, TCR Europe, TCR Australia, TCR South America and a yet to be revealed series this season.
